Super Golden™ Elixir

June 5, 2019

Since my diagnosis of Fibromyalgia in 2010 I have strived to nourish my body with all the things that support a healthy immune system and lifestyle. I add in lots of organic spices and superfoods to my foods that help keep my immune system functioning properly and ready to ward off any "seasonal bugs".

This time of year I like to make soups, broths, teas, and elixirs more often and give my digestive system a rest from all that hard work of chewing, assimilating and breaking down. I feel like that helps the performance of my body too! I feel lighter and more focused rather than sluggish and heavy.

My daughter is a school teacher of kindergarten and first grade littles and is now seeing just how important it is to keep her immune system balanced and supported. It can be tough to keep from illness with all those different germs and viruses floating around especially if your immune system has been compromised or weakened. Her cough was so frequent and her throat was so hoarse so I mixed her up an elixir using my Super Golden Blend™ and she loved it!! Two days of nursing her back to health her cough subsided, her sore throat was gone and she felt better!

Is your immune system working at optimal performance? Are you drinking lots of water, eating lots of greens, spices, superfoods and adaptogens? or are you eating "get well foods" from the Standard American Diet like ginger ale soda, saltine crackers, canned chicken soup, cough medicine, halls cough drops, etc? Although those work for some, whether a placebo effect or a few of their medicinal ingredients, we must retrain ourselves to keep our immune systems healthy all year long, not just when we get sick. This elixir was created with that in mind!

This is now my NEW favorite!! It's ridiculously full of all things good, immune building and germ busting!!

Get ready to treat yourself to a healthy dose of goodness made in your own kitchen!!

Here's what I used:

1c hot water {filtered}

1/2 tsp Super Golden Blend™

- turmeric

- ginger

- cinnamon

- maca

- flax seeds

- chia seeds

- black pepper

1/2 tsp raw honey

1/2 tsp bee pollen

juice from lemon {or lemon juice}

Optional:

Splash of vanilla extract

Splash of coconut cream or coconut milk {may use any nut milk i.e, almond, cashew, macadamia, hemp}

Combine all ingredients in your favorite mug, stir them, sip them and enjoy their healing properties.

About the ingredients:

Super Golden Blend™

My Super Golden Blend™ is made up of turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, maca, ground flax seeds, chia seeds and black pepper. This blend aids in inflammation, stress, weight loss and immunity, to name a few. It's anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-oxidant, adaptogenic and of course anti-inflammatory!! I honestly love this blend, and not just because I created it but because it helped heal me and now it's helping heal my friends, family, and clients!!

Raw Local Honey

I prefer raw honey since it's free of processing, which breaks down the nutrients in foods. Raw honey is a natural cough suppressant and sore throat soother. It also assists in clearing up acne and dry skin and scalp with it's anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Having a bit of honey is said to help with sleep since it contains tryptophan, an amino acid, that converts to serotonin then melatonin. It's antioxidants protect the bodies cells from the damaging effects of oxidation.

Bee Pollen

As a person that chooses to eat whole food plant based diet I do not eat animal meat and rarely eat animal by-product. So I was a bit hesitant to eat bee pollen but I'm so glad that I tried it!! Bee pollen offers a full spectrum of nutrients that our bodies require. It strengthens and boosts the immune system, helps to reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol, aids in liver health, speeds the healing process, and has anti-fungul and anti-bacterial benefits. You don't have to use too much to reap the benefits so add it to your favorite drink or dish!

Lemon

Helllllo vitamin C!! If you know me than you probably know that I am obsessed with lemon water. Whether it's cold or warm still water or sparkling water I am ALL ABOUT IT!! Seriously, who can resist a food that is healthy, inexpensive and used in so many dishes?? Plus, if you're out of lemons you can always substitute with organic lemon juice! Lemon helps keep us hydrated, supports weight loss, helps digestion, skin health, reduces inflammation, etc. It also assists in decreasing the level of acidity in your body keeping you more alkaline.

 tip: if you're feeling "tight" or angry you may want to avoid lemon. Think of your body puckering...then adding more pucker...not so great - go for lime or orange instead!

Enjoy

❤️

xx
