What are you doing to minimize your waste?? 8 fun ideas to get you started!

I've been reading and hearing a lot about zero-waste, minimizing, downsizing and I am ready to make more of a difference for myself, my family, and this planet. I'm getting pretty serious about what I do & don't bring in my home. Although I still have ALOT to learn I'm reducing, reusing, recycling, up cycling as much as I can. I'm basically hoarding my food scraps for composting yet occasionally toss them in the nearby woods, they are minimal and no animal products, for my deer, skunk, and raccoon friends.
The biggest task on my agenda is an herb garden & raised vegetable beds for spring!! A friend lent me a fun book on gardening and I'm excited to dive in and get this going!!
Here are some ideas to get you started!
Start recycling. Contact your local garbage company or waste station for details.
Plan your shopping trips: no need to buy large quantities of food or food-like products like it's the apocalypse. Shop every 3 - 4 days to minimize excessive trips and impulse buys.
Use reusable bags or baskets for grocery trips and purchase or make small reusable bags for produce or bulk items - forgo the thin plastic throw away bags.
Search your area for farms that take food scraps for composting or start your own
Upcycle as much as you can; bring clothing to thrift stores, donation bins, family & friends - start a clothing swap.
Reuse glass & plastics for storage, transporting meals, dressings, meal prep, making your own household products, etc.
Grow your own food. Start with a small herb and vegetable garden and as you get more comfortable expand with variety.
Make your own cleaning and self care products i.e, glass cleaner equal parts vinegar to water, baking soda + coconut oil toothpaste, essential oil bathroom spray, etc.

There is so much more to a zero-waste life but these are some great ideas and a fun new start. A habit takes 21 days so start today!
Reduce, Recycle, Reuse for you, your family, and the planet. ♻️🌿
